Local policing from the Dereham Safer Neighbourhood Team

Inspector John PapworthInspector John Papworth

My teams and I are passionate about protecting the vulnerable and reducing crime and disorder. We work in partnership with our community and our partner agencies to identify and resolve concerns as quickly as possible.

We hold regular Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel meetings in each town for local residents to raise any concerns they would like addressing by their local policing team and partner agencies.

Key facts

  • The Dereham neighbourhood is a large and mainly rural area set in the heart of Norfolk. It consists of 12 wards containing 42 parishes with the market town of Dereham at its centre.
  • Dereham is Breckland’s second largest town with a population of approximately 16,000 which includes a well-established Portuguese community.
  • Set in the middle of one of Britain's most important farming regions, the town has historically thrived on agriculture and still does. There are also a range of modern industries unconnected with farming.
